Battery passport urgency is real: mandatory February 18, 2027, for every EV battery, industrial battery above 2 kWh, and LMT battery placed on the EU market. The Battery Pass Technical Guidance v1.0 explicitly names EDC as a co-existing data exchange standard and defines “DPP service providers” as responsible for managed operations.

GBA Data Exchange Working Group (28/35)
What: 17 consortia testing real-world battery passport implementation, with results expected June 2026. Focuses on interoperability and digital protocols.
Why it matters: This is where battery passport infrastructure buyers make decisions. The Working Group focuses on the exact problem Kaphera solves: data exchange protocol infrastructure for production battery passports.
What to do:
- Apply for membership or attend the next GBA Townhall (open to non-members)
- Target: consortium technical leads evaluating data exchange infrastructure
- Offer: battery passport connector pilot with EDC-based data exchange

Why Battery Show Europe Is a Skip (16/35)
Battery Show Europe (Stuttgart, Jun 9-11, 17K visitors) has no EDC, dataspace connector, or data sovereignty track anywhere in its three-day program. The only DPP content is a Day 3 keynote by Circulor’s CEO framed as compliance readiness, not infrastructure procurement.
The 1,100+ exhibitors are battery chemistry, materials, and testing companies. The buying decision for EDC connector infrastructure is made by IT/data architects, a persona largely absent here.
Bottom line: The urgency is real, but this event has the wrong audience. The correct battery channel is the GBA Working Group.

GTM Timing Implication
The three pre-GA milestones (CEN/CENELEC March, GBA results June, DPP Registry July) create urgency conversations that can be started immediately, before the October GA.
